Sharon is a triple-negative breast cancer survivor who turned her fight into a burning desire to empower other breast cancer patients. After finishing treatment for stage IIb triple-negative breast cancer in 2016, Sharon was concerned about the recurrence of her cancer.

Sharon first heard about a specific trial for breast cancer patients on the Good Morning America Show. She learned that she was a match. It was through these experiences that Sharon decided to devote her life to giving back to the community by spreading awareness and advocating for underserved patients, especially in the area of access to clinical trials by African American and other disadvantaged people who are notoriously under-represented.

Sharon Rivera took part in a clinical trials studies with the Pink Lotus Foundation and University of PENN, Abramson Cancer Center to detect recurrences sooner for other breast cancer patients.
